Here's how mine turned out....
This section was an after-thought. It doesn't have a tab on it because it's in the front. I will put our daily schedule, specials schedule, word list, and any other random important information.
I am very excited about this section. Just yesterday I bought a planner for $10. I was not happy about spending the money so I was very excited to find this idea on the blogs when I got home last night... I'll be returning that planner tomorrow!
I just copied the objectives from the state's website and made them pretty. I'm thinking I'll also put our grade's curriculum map here.
I was originally planning on using a whole binder for my student data, but I love keeping it all together. This is where I'll track reading levels and other assessment scores.
I've always had random notes in multiple notebooks. I love that all of my notes will be in one place. I like the idea of a half sheet for notes, but also made a full sheet just for those extra special meetings (I'm thinking of our back-to-school meeting).
Right now I have all of this in a 1 inch binder because that's what I had here at home. I anticipate having to graduate into a bigger binder, but I'll cross that bridge when it comes. Be sure to check out the Ladybug's Teacher Files and Kindergarten Works to see their binders!
UPDATE 6/1/12- I am not currently sharing these templates. Please check out my TPT store to purchase your very own Teacher Keeper! I've got 4 different themes and will be adding more in the next few weeks!

Your binder is awesome! I need to work on mine.
ReplyDeleteLorena
Would you consider sharing your files for this notebook or selling them on TpT? I start school this week and don't have time to make mine pretty like yours!
ReplyDeleteWow! Yours is super cute, I love it! I was looking at their binders too and thinking that it sounded like a good idea, because the lesson planning book I wanted to buy today was $16.... yikes!!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous Multiagers!
I love your binder! How did you make your tabs? Just like ladybug teacher files did? I am doing a turquoise lime and pink theme- do you mind sharing your covers?

I did a binder like this last year but I really love how you've created yours. I'd love to know what your daily lesson plan section looks like. I'm trying to find a great way to organize mine. :)
ReplyDeleteSuzy
Suzy- This will be the first time I am using this binder so I'm sure I'll tweak it along the way. I really just plan on putting my daily lesson plans in that section along with my literacy and math station planning sheets. (The literacy one is from 'Made for 1st Grade' and the math one will be posted on my blog tonight.) If you want to give me your email address, I can send you a couple different lesson formats I'm thinking of using.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed with your binder--cover and all! How did you do the fun graphics on the cover? And I sure could use your lesson formats. Our district is changing drastically what is required in our plans!
ReplyDeleteBooky4First- The graphics on the front are just circles in Microsoft Word. I just changed the colors and did some with a zebra design. (To fill a shape with your own design, find an image from the internet and save it to your computer. Then, when choosing a fill choose "picture". Does that make sense?)
ReplyDeleteTales of a Teacherista
Mrs. Pollard--this is gorgeous!! Thanks for the shoutout, it was Leslie's idea to begin with. I am so excited about it! Yours looks so beautiful...I still need a cover for mine! :)
ReplyDeleteKristen
I love how cute it is inside! I really need to cutesy up the inside of mine. Your color choices and fonts are just darling.
ReplyDeleteIf you are a seamstress you can follow my tutorial and make yourself a fantastic zebra cover to turn your binder into a handy tote! It really makes your binder that much more useful.

ReplyDeletebheadwms@gmail.com
Just realized you are selling the whole keeper on Tpt, sorry about asking for the calendar template.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of this binder! It is super cute! It sounds like you are a very organized teacher who knows what she is doing! I really like how you had a binder that was sectioned off. Important information being in the front containing your schedule, special schedules, and other important information in the front. This way you will have it at easy access and always know where you can find it, instead of searching for it for what could end up being hours. The lesson plans sections sounds like it would be also very well organized and scheduled. Knowing what you need to get ready and having it all in one spot will make it convenient. The monthly calendars would be handy to have so you could get a general layout of your year. You could plan units and themes and see when they will start and end. This will help you know what you are going to be planning. It is also nice that it is online! Having the standards at your fingertips is another must. This way you can make sure you are hitting all the benchmarks you are supposed to and keeping children on track with their learning. Adding student data to this could also be a good way to keep organized and papers all in one spot. I think this is a creative, fun, organized idea that I will keep in mind when I make it into the teaching field.
