What do you do?

I'm thinking ahead to next year, of course, and what I want to change or keep the same.  I am wondering... how do you collect your student's finished work?  I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas!

  1. I have a basket where they have to turn in their work when they are done. It isn't fancy, but the kids know (or I hope they know!) where the work goes. I collect it throughout the day and then when I go to check it, it's all there in a neatish stack! Hope this helps!

  2. That's what I do, too. I've been using this method for 3 years now, but I don't really like it.

  3. I use a set of boxes where each child has a box and puts their papers in their boxes. The boxes are numbered and each child has a number...when I collect papers, I pull from the boxes and they're already in numerical...which is alphabetical order :)

  4. Each of my student's have a magnetic clip with their name. All the clips are on a large whiteboard at the back of our room. When student's complete their work they clip their paper to the board. I can tell at a glance who is finished and who is still working. It also helps with no name papers!

*I must brag on myself :) My paper collection method will be featured in an upcoming edition of Mailbox Magazine.

  5. Wow, congrats Amy! How exciting to be featured in Mailbox. I like your idea. I'm just thinking if I have a space in my room where I can do this. (We're special and have the NON-magnetic white boards!)

  6. If you haven't chosen a system already, you might take a look at the "paper drop box" idea:

I haven't used it myself, but it seems like a clever solution!
