More Classroom Pictures

Here are some more classroom pictures.  I still need to take some pictures and update a few things, but you'll get the idea.  Many of my bulletin boards are empty because I like to fill them with the kids.

This is the front of my desk.  The students make their lunch choice here.  I have all of the lunch choices for the year typed on cards that are in a magnetic pencil holder on the lower right corder of my desk.  The choices are clipped along the top and students use the number circles to move under their choice.

I hung my hanging organizer over the back of my filing cabinet.  Then, I covered the side of the filing cabinet with paper and border.  In the corner behind my desk is where I have my binders with all of my master copies.

On the pink board I now have "Writer's Toolbox".  This is where I will put things about punctuation, capital/lowercase letters, and finger spaces.  I will put it up as I teach it to the kids.  I'm not sure what will go on the left side... probably anchor charts.

This is my Promethean board.  It fits two wide drawer units very nicely underneath.  There are math and literacy station supplies stored in the drawers.

The green baskets will house my literacy stations.  (I'm using the awesome center stuff from Made for 1st Grade for my labels and rotation schedule.)  Again, I don't know what will go on this board, but I'll put up stuff as I create it with the kids.  On the right are two drawer units stacked up.  The drawers are labeled, but I want to put scrapbook paper in the front of the drawers to block all my "stuff".

I got the bar and containers from IKEA this summer.  The pink cup is for sharpened pencils, white is for extra erasers, and the black cup is for dull pencils.

Ta-da!  Here's my tree!!  I L.O.V.E. it!  (Thanks, Mrs. Jump, for your directions!)  The directions said to use a golf umbrella, but I just didn't have the space for something that big so mine is a regular size umbrella.

This is the back of my room.  The white tub is where they'll turn in their homework folders.  The green board is still empty.  On the front of the silver cabinet I now have month cards where I will put their pictures for their birthdays... I'll post a picture when it's done.

This is my back bulletin board.  I borrowed someone's idea for my schema board, but can't remember whose right now (let me know if it was you!).

These are my student mailboxes.  On top is a 3 tray unit to hold blank copy paper, masters that have already been copied, and items that need to be sent home in upcoming weeks.

This filing cabinet is directly inside of my door.  The hooks are for the students' lunch tags.

These are my classroom expectations.  (Thanks Mrs. Herring for making the cute bow!)

My Word Wall (underneath are my math tub baskets).

For some reason, I took pictures of my entire classroom, but not my calendar that I'm so excited about!  The kids come on Thursday!  I'll probably post more pictures this weekend.  :)

  2. Your room is very pretty! I love the boy and girl on your bulletin board. Is that from a store-bought set or did you print and assemble them?

  3. Such a cute room! I love the colors and zebra print.
Your classroom expectations display is adorable. Did you make this out of scrapbook paper or was it all printed? I might just attempt to recreate that look! Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. AMAZING... I'm doing the jungle theme for a second time... I did it last year and Really enjoyed it. I think I just really liked the print more so than the jungle animals themselves. I love the file cabinet Idea in your first picture. I have a file cabinet next to my guided reading table and was wondering what I could possibly do wit it... your blog really helped :P
Where did you get the folder organizer... i love how its a solid black ... not rainbow colored like the ones you see in catalogs!!

  5. I just came across your blog and it is TOO cute! Your room looks great! I just bought black flat sheets at Walmart to change my bulletin boards since it makes everything look so clean. Seeing your hanging file folders makes me wish mine were black, the red isn't cutting it for me. I just started my own teaching blog and plan on coming back here for more inspiration!

  8. Mrs. Bainbridge, my husband free-handed the boy and girl (each on a piece of poster board). Then, I cut them out, colored parts of them, and dressed them in scrapbook paper. They don't really serve too much of a purpose other than being cute, but I love them!

  9. Most of my zebra was created in Microsoft Word. I saved in an image from online and used it as a fill for the shape. Love it!

My hanging organizer is from www.mardel.com. You must go check them out-- A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. It's called a File-tastic! Lots of cute colors and patterns!

  12. I love your room! I never thought of using the front of my desk but now because of you I will. We don't start school for two more weeks and I've spent last week setting up my new classroom. I was trying to figure out where to have my lunch sign up but now I will copy you and use the front of my desk.

Also, I have a hanging file thing similar to yours and LOVE it but packed it away in a box thinking there wasn't an area in this new room to hang it. I love the idea of hanging it on the side of a file cabinet but how did you get it to stay? Also, how do you make sure once you put papers in those files that it isn't too heavy and slips off or falls down? I would love to know your secret to this idea.

    Thanks so much!

  13. Right now I have clear packing tape rolls under the the top of the hanging organizer. If it starts to buckle under the weight, my thought is to add some heavy duty velcro.

Have a good start back to school!

  25. Erin- To make the zebra circles, I insert a circle in Word and then choose to fill it with a picture. (First you have to save a zebra image on your computer.)

Angie- I love doing my lunch choices this way. It's a good use of my desk!

    Gina- Check your email!

  27. I love your classroom!! I was wondering if you actually drilled the bar/cup set into your desk, I was thinking of hot gluing magnets, but I'm not sure that will hold??

    ReplyDelete
  28. I used E6000 to glue 3 disc magnets on each end. (Hot glue will not hold.) It depends on how much you put in the cups as to well it holds up. Mine stayed up all year until just a few weeks ago when a little one was "not" playing with it.

    1. I used bins on top of students desk for my students daily supplies this year, but I really like the hanging bins you got from ikea. Do you know what they were called? I can't seem to find them anywhere!

    2. which side of the magnet did you glue, the one on the bar or on the desk? Does it matter? What kind of magnets did you use? I have this same shelf and now I know exactly what to do with it!

    3. I used disc magnets. I think I used 3 discs on each end of the bar. I glued the magnets to the bar and then ended up gluing the bar to the desk so it would support the weight.... so you could probably take out the magnets all together and just glue the bar to your surface!

  29. I love your classroom! It is so cute!! What did you use for the numbers that they use to vote for their lunch choice?

How did you get your ikea rod (for pencils and erasers) to attach to the metal side of your desk? Did you add magnets onto it?

    Thanks,

  38. Commonly a crisis credit needs to cover a transient income issue. On the off chance that an individual, family or business has a long haul income issue, they would regularly take a gander at longer-term advances that have a lower loan cost. https://www.usacheckcashingstore.com/san-diego

  39. Be that as it may, in the event that you are wanting to purchase a vehicle that is more than five years all things considered it is unrealistic to get the advance. Regardless of that truth any sort of truck coveted can be obtained utilizing this strategy, the reimbursement time adversary a truck advance is about from 9 months to 4 years and they can get the definite sum that the truck values. What's more, the rates are constantly higher as a result of the poor FICO score they have, yet while doing this sort of endeavor ensure you check all the diverse leasers so you can get the best possible arrangement for your necessities. cash advance
